Badgers Bounce Back with Sweep

This past weekend, the Badgers traveled to La Crosse, WI to take on the Eagles of UW-La Crosse. This is the team's second WCCHA series of the year as the boys are coming off a series split with St. Thomas.

Game one bolstered a hot start for the visiting Badgers as they scored 2 back to back from Cohn and Storck about 7 minutes into the period. Storck would net another one 4 minutes later to make it 3-0. UWL would net one of their own on a 2 on 1 to make it 3-1. Friedow would answer right back to make it 4-1 to end the first with a three goal lead. In the second, UWL scored 4 minutes in to make it 4-2. The boys weren't satisfied with their lead. Skillings, Storck(hat trick) and Perea added goals of their own to increase the lead to 7-2 heading into the third. During the third, the Badgers kept the offense rolling. Cohn, Jacoby, Parma, Schwehr and Zaccaro would score increasing the Badgers total to 12. UWL would add another in the third but the Badgers would take the victory 12-3.

Game two was much of the same. Parker Strock opened up the scoring but Perea and Cohn would add their own as the Badgers took a 3-0 lead after one. In the second, Perea, Storck, Ripley, Moser(2), Skillings, and Byrd scored. The Badgers took a 10-1 lead into the third. In the third, UWL showed some life netting 3 goals on different odd man rushes and fluke plays but Storck(hat trick), Ripley and Moser would add three more for the Badgers as they complete the sweep with another victory, 13-4.

With a huge two divisional points taken on the weekend, the Badgers are now in a three way tie for the SE division lead with St. Thomas and MN State - Mankato. Badgers currently hold the tie breaker with the highest goal differential at 20 goals.

This upcoming weekend, the Badgers will have their annual home & home with Marquette. Game one is at 6:40PM at the Ponds of Brookfield with game two in Madison at 10:45AM at the Shell. See you at the rink! #PursuingDestiny
