Badgers Take Down Blugolds | Championship Sunday

In yesterday's contest, the Badgers took care of business against WI State rival, UWEC! It was a hard fought game by both teams, with the good guys taking advantage of great chances late in the game.

The game was a stalemate through two periods. Badgers and Blugolds trading chances, neither goalie giving an inch as the 0-0 tie would carry from the first into the third.

From there, it was all Badgers! Harry Burmeister would start the scoring off a great slot snipe glove side to give the Badgers a 1-0 lead just before the 10 minute mark of the third! A few minutes later, Carson Gunderson found Jake Feldt streaking down the right wing where he would power it home to extend the lead to 2-0! Not even 30 seconds later, Pitts tipped home a point shot to make it 3-0 as the period continued to tick down! To finish off the 5-mintue major powerplay, Trace Tompkins would bury a slot rebound with an absolute missile to make it 4-0 good guys! The Blugolds would tally one when an errant tip found its way past Goss to make it 4-1 with less than a minute to go. Badgers would take the 4-1 win and punch their ticket to Championship Sunday for the second year in a row!

Today, the Badgers faceoff against SE division rival and #1 tournament seeded, #3 Central ranked St. Thomas. Earlier this semester, the Badgers fell in two close contests to the Tommies in Madison by finals of 3-5(EN) and 2-4. The Badgers will look to close out the weekend with Back-to-Back Carla Berg titles and punch their ticket officially to the regional tournament in Chesterfield, MO in two weeks! The game will be livestreamed using this link.

As always, Roll Badge and On Wisconsin!
