Badgers Split with Illini | First Road Trip to Columbus

Last weekend, the Badgers hosted the Fighting Illini of Illinois for the second series of the season.
Game one saw a resounding Badger win on the offense from Ian Barbour, who netted a natural hat trick! Brendan Doherty also netted a goal in the contest. The Badgers would take game one by a final of 5-3!
Game two was an offensive battle between the two squads. Playing just 8 hours after the conclusion of game one, I guess the goalies needed some time to wake up. Illinois would jump out to a first-period lead of 1-2 into the first intermission. The Badgers would battle back in the second but would still trail after the second intermission 3-4. In the third, the Illini would continue their scoring ways, netting another early goal to jump out to a 2 goal lead. The Badgers fought back hard, but would eventually fall by a final score of 6-7. This was the first regulation loss for the Badgers this season.
Looking ahead to tonight's series opener against Ohio State, the Badgers look to bounce back after the heartbreaker last weekend. The boys were up early and on the road from Madison to Columbus, taking classes and cranking out homework on the bus. Puck drop tonight is at 6 PM CST. You can watch the games on OSU's Facebook live stream here! The Badgers look to make the most of their third non-conference series before starting WCCHA play next week.
