Badgers Start the Year with Dominating Sweep

The Badgers started their season at home last Friday against the Wildcats of Northern Michigan. The last time these two teams met was back in 2014. The game started with a quick tally by the Wildcats. The Badgers quickly bounced back, however, scoring two unanswered to end the first. This trend continued into the second as the Badgers then took a 4-1 lead into the third. Northern Michigan would tuck another one on the powerplay in the third but the prolific Badger scoring couldn't be stopped as they took game one with a final score of 9-2.
In game two, the Badgers looked to the football team for inspiration, scoring early and often putting in 6 in the first. Never satisfied, the Badgers continued to score and score a lot, taking a 8-1 lead into the third. Refusing to stall out, the team put four more past the Wildcat goalie as the Badgers would close out the sweep with an astounding 12-1 victory.
Lots of players got in on the action this weekend; rookies and veterans alike. Some notable players from the weekend were Hunter Schwehr, Blake Ripley, Joe Simon, Jake Cohn, Lance Breitnauer and the goalies Tyler Schreiter and Sean Goss who only allowed 3 goals over the weekend.
The Badgers look to carry this performance into next weekend's home-and-home series with UW-Oshkosh. The team travels to Oshkosh on Friday the 13th with puck drop at 7PM. Then the boys return home to play game two at 10:45AM at the Shell on the 14th. Hope to see you all at the rink!
